![]() For example, CHAOS HEAD NOAH had their game rejected and later reinstated, seemingly due to pressure from fans (there was a petition made with over 4000 signatures). I do yet have some hope to get this decision reversed, but unfortunately, I think it could take a lot of time. Surely this must all be a huge misunderstanding/mistake? I'm not trying to release a game with child pornography unlike some other rejected titles - It's just a player tool that does fit into the exact categories that Steam gave me. But it's just so disappointing that this is how they handle it. I understand that Steam is inexplicably massive and that they likely have their hands full just before/during Steam Next Fest. I've been in disbelief since then, hence why it has taken me so long to get to the point of writing this post. You really get the feeling that Steam doesn't care unless they know for certain that they will make a lot of money from you. The fact that it was done without any discussion and at first so utterly blunt just screams unprofessional to me. The reasons given to later reject it make no sense. Both the main application's and the demo's store pages got accepted. I had the store page up for over 6 months. I responded to that by asking how to get in touch with the person/persons in charge. I understand your request, but we won't be sharing more details The same day I responded, in a different manner, with the two points above, but only received back It's a translation/language learning tool, only functional in games.īesides - an application for those purposes already exists on Steam, however, the implementation for it is entirely different and I doubt that it's even legal because it uses free API's and doesn't work at all for 99% of the time because of that reason. It is literally exactly the only two things that the software is. My application DOES fit into Player Tools and Educational. This software does not fit in these categories, and we won't be able to distribute it on Steam SteamVR Tools (Drivers, Overlays, Utilities) Non-game software may be accepted for distribution if it fits into one of the following categories: We are primarily accepting games for distribution on Steam. Obviously being shocked by this sudden decision weeks before my planned launch, I opened a ticket with Steam support (they immediately closed the 'thread' where the decision was given), and asked what was going on and why I had been given the lowest possible effort explanation to why the application's demo got rejected.ģ days later, Steam writes this to me, in an old build review ticket for the application (not the demo). This decision was definite and I was given no better reason than Īfter careful review, we found that your software is not a good fit for Steam, and we won't be able to ship it on Steam. ![]() On the 16th of June, a few days prior to the Steam Next Fest which my application was signed up for, Steam decided to 'retire' (read remove) the application's demo from Steam.
